✪ share something with the class: I'm working on writing an epic massive YGO DM AU fic wherein Yuugi was always a cis girl, Atem was always a trans girl, Seto was always a trans boy, etc etc so forth. And I'm using both manga and anime timelines, including both Series-0-and-equivalent-manga and Duel-Monsters-and-equivalent-manga, this is a goddamn bear let me tell you. Writing-wise I'm stuck at the point where I need to introduce Seto, but I have posted excerpts from later in the storyline as

fan_flashworks and

fic_promptly have gotten me to write them: you can read those on AO3 and fan_flashworks. Don't ask me how I'm handling any of the movies because none of them goddamn timeline either and for bonus points making use of Bonds Beyond Time seems to require a bit more canon knowledge than I actually possess. (No, I haven't seen more than a couple random episodes of any series later than Duel Monsters, why do you ask?)

✪ share something with the class: I have just gotten back into Yu-Gi-Oh! after a long hiatus, when a friend gave me his paper copies of the original manga series, which he was replacing with digital copies. Read it all in about a week, and became totally obsessed all over again. Unfortunately, I lost my whole Yu-Gi-Oh! collection of English & Japanese manga, sub & dub DVDs, cards, figures, and other collectibles in a house fire several years ago, and am now trying to replace what I can. Currently, I'm doing a Duel Monsters series rewatch on Crunchyroll. Never really got into any of the other Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

I don't ship it per se and I'm still debating whether I think of this movie as canon (rewatch required—hey look, Amazon finally has the disc available for preorder!), but holy shit, DSOD, you couldn't have given us one line to make the Seto/Atem (at least in the Seto->Atem direction) explicit instead of really loud subtext? One line!

I MEAN I subscribe almost exclusively manga canon and Kaz himself has mentioned that DSOD follows manga canon SO. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (but yes pls rewatch it you know you want tooooo.)

the subtext is also par for the course with what Seto has said in the manga, and uh, Seto himself Sucks At Communication (tm) so I will have to be content with only subtext I guess.....

Honestly, I wasn't much for any YGO ships at all until coming back to fandom for DSOD and there was so much good food. I was genuinely surprised to find that Prideshipping wasnt all that superly big during first run (Puppyshipping was, followed by Puzzleshipping and Thiefshipping), so I'm glad my Prideshipping friends got fed well :3
