DSOD and beta request
Finally got myself a DVD copy of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions and watched it. I had unintentionally run into some spoilers for the end, so I was watching the whole thing sort of flinching and waiting for Things to happen. I'll have to watch it again so I can relax and enjoy it more.
I was happy to see that the DVD included the Japanese language version with English subtitles, but was disappointed to find that the subtitles weren't actually subtitles, but a transcript of the dub dialog, which in places was very obviously not what the characters were actually saying. Would it be that hard for them to include real subtitles? Sigh.
I don't want to post spoilers here, in case anyone hasn't seen it, but will happily talk about it in the comments!
In other news, I've just finished writing my first Yu-Gi-Oh! story in years! (More than ten years, in fact! Yikes!) And I could use a beta. The story is about 12,000 words, set post-series, gen, focuses mostly on Jonouchi and Yugi, but also includes Honda and Anzu, Yugi and Jonouchi's families, and the Kaiba brothers. It's based on manga canon, so includes references to early stuff that isn't included or only lightly touched on in the anime. The story is that the boys are 19 now, out of high school and starting to make their way in the adult world, and Jonouchi's life gets shaken up when his father is struck down by a heart attack. If anyone would be willing to take a look at it, please let me know!

SPOILERS FOR DSOD: ...I just wanna know, did Seto actually kill himself at the end, or is Mokuba simply convinced that Seto's not going to survive this not!suicide stunt?

DSOD: Yeah, I ... that was what I got spoiled on, and it really bothers me. But the way it's presented, it seems like it could go either way, and I prefer to believe that Seto will come back, and Mokuba's just scared. I just can't believe that Seto would deliberately do something he knew he couldn't come back from. He is supremely confident in his own ability to control any technology, so I think he thinks he's going to go duel the Pharaoh and then come back victorious. I mean, if he can control this other dimension well enough to recreate ancient Egypt and show up on the Pharaoh's doorstep, he should be able to control it well enough to reverse the process. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
