Duel Links Event!

I've been waiting for this one! Looks like it starts off a little differently than Yami Bakura's events, where you had to collect enough dice to challenge him at the Gate - this time, you need to defeat regular Duel World duelists to find enough map pieces for the Rare Hunters to even show up.

From what I understand, they've put in several Rare Hunter (known) characters for this event. Plus I'm excited for Yami Malik's custom dialogue with people.

Oh, cool! That looks like fun.

I've been playing most days since you got me interested before. I started out playing as Yami Yugi, but then switched to Joey once I unlocked him -- he's always been my favorite, and I love that goofy giggle when he gets a good attack in. Then I bought one of the structure decks that was a spellcaster deck, so I figured I should switch back to Yami to play it. Currently have Yami up to Level 15 and Joey at Level 20. Who do you play as?

I'm glad you've gotten into it! I usually play a few rounds when I wake up, and on my breaks through the day.

My main is Bakura, but I've also got Tea, Ishizu, and Pegasus all above level 25.

Well, I beat the first Rare Hunter, playing as Joey, which was very satisfying, heh. Next one should be Pandora/Arkana, who's already been out in Duel World. I beat him with Yami Yugi once before. Then comes the Silent Doll, and then Lumis & Umbra, if they're following the series. Should be fun! I'll probably switch to Yami Yugi for the rest of the event.

I'm having a hard time coming up with a good deck for Joey. It's mostly a mish-mash of whatever strongest Level 4 monsters I've got. Heh. I guess that's appropriate for Joey. I just took Red-Eyes Black Dragon out of his deck, because it's just not that strong for a Level 7 monster, but I do have Gearfried, and finally got Gearfried the Swordmaster after buying nearly every pack in the Land of the Titans box. Probably a waste, because three-card combos are hard to pull off, but I had to try it.

The card combos are why I haven't seriously pursued fusions yet, because the compliment of spell cards that help you move through your deck just isn't there yet. Plus with the smaller deck size, having to require certain cards can fill it up pretty quickly. I have a dedicated fusion deck that I pull up whenever one of the Stage goals is to do something like "complete 2 summons in one duel", but outside of that I don't use it.

Red Eyes isn't worth the level 7 cost, but if you have a couple Red Eyes Chick cards, it balances out a little bit. I hear you on buying the whole box, I did the same with Age of Discovery :)

Okay, I unlocked Yami Marik. Heh. Funny how nervous I get playing him, I'm all "Ack Shadow Game he's going to kill me!" I beat him with Yami Yugi, have to try Joey next. I have Mai unlocked and a bunch of Harpy Lady and Amazoness cards, I should put together a deck for her and see how she does.

I deleted the Duel Links app to sort of take a break from playing mobile games. But now that Yami Marik is in Duel World, I guess it's time to download the app again. I don't really have a strategy when it comes to dueling or a specific theme for my decks. I build my decks with cards I've earned or bought. I usually have a lot of spell cards that damages an opponent's life points. Honestly, I've been trying to build decent decks but it's hard. I'm learning though.
